The Main Center, located on Kent Island in the Chesapeake Bay Business Park, is capable of holding 150 children from infants (6 weeks) through 5 years old. This facility opened in March of 2004. The building has cameras in every room for the recording and monitoring of the activities within, as well as on the playground and in the parking lot. When needed, the front entrance can be secured, requiring a PIN for entrance. The center is comprised of 11 rooms where the children are divided by age. This center also provides morning and afternoon care for children attending Kent Island Elementary School’s pre-kindergarten class. Children in pre-kindergarten are picked up and dropped off for school by the county school bus system. Along with the day-to-day activities, the children also participate in special activities throughout the year such as bike day, field day and kite day. Seasonal filed trips are also taken by the children of this center. Typical destinations are The National Zoo, the circus and the pumpkin patch. Parents are welcome to come along. Special summertime activities include water day, ice cream day, movie day, parents and grandparent’s day. The center’s operational hours are from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The offices for all four centers are operated out of this center.
